One of the benefits of integrative medicine is that we can combine Western and Eastern modalities for the best possible outcomes. Our advanced diagnostic tools play an important role in evaluating your pet’s condition, monitoring their response to treatment, and detecting and identifying underlying health issues. The results that emerge from our diagnostic procedures can help us create a custom treatment plan for your pet that more effectively improves their quality of life.
At Pawsitive Integrative Veterinary Care, our doctors and staff can utilize digital radiography, ultrasound, and a fully-equipped in-house laboratory to provide your companion with the best care. Quality treatment depends on a clear and thorough diagnosis, which our technology can help us achieve.

Why We Use Digital Radiography
Integrative medicine, just like traditional medicine, requires a definitive diagnosis before treatment can be recommended and administered. One of our tools for making a diagnosis is digital radiography. A dramatic improvement on film X-ray, digital X-ray enables our team to view the bones, joints, heart, and lungs in sharper detail. We can see more, and this gives us a better chance of catching an underlying issue.
Conditions we can diagnose using digital radiography include:
- Heart conditions
- Lung conditions
- Joint deformities
- Some masses and foreign bodies
We Also Offer Dental Radiography
Our practice has a dental radiography unit that allows us to check for oral problems hidden under the gum line and in the teeth and surrounding bone. Dental disease, abscesses, tooth resorption, and other issues can be diagnosed with the help of our dental X-ray equipment.
Pet ultrasound provides us with an additional layer of testing, one that can reveal conditions not visible via X-ray. The soundwaves produced by our ultrasound equipment give us the ability to view the abdominal organs in real time. We can assess their function and note changes such as:
- Fluid buildup
- Enlarged organs
- Abnormal organ function
- Abnormal appearance/function of blood vessels and blood supply to organs
Live Blood Analysis
A live blood analysis is another tool we can use to diagnose a variety of diseases in dogs and cats. Unlike many other blood tests, the live blood analysis can reveal imbalances, which in turn may indicate an increased risk for illness. To perform a live blood analysis, we need to view a sample of living blood (as it behaves inside the body) through a microscope. By combining this test with other, traditional lab tests, we can obtain more information about your pet’s condition.
Some conditions we can detect using live blood analysis:
- Yeast infections
- Digestive problems
- Liver toxicity
- An increase or decrease in white blood cells
