Preventative and Advanced Lab Work, Plus CBC and Organ Function Assessment
Our preventative wellness blood work provides an internal checkup that helps us assess your pet’s major organs, while ruling out unnoticed infections and determining blood clotting ability. The tests we use allow us to safely and effectively diagnose, monitor, and treat a range of illnesses and diseases, with the goal of detecting issues early.
Our tests include:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC) – The most common test for pets, the CBC gives us information on blood clotting ability, anemia, hydration status, infection, and immune system responsiveness. This test is essential for pets presenting with fever, diarrhea, vomiting, weakness, pale gums, and inappetence. It can also be used to detect issues prior to surgery or other medical treatments.
- Chemistry Tests – These common tests monitor organ function, hormone levels, electrolyte status, and various other internal functions. Chemistry tests are vital in treating older pets who are taking long-term medication, or prior to receiving anesthesia.
- Thyroid Function Tests – Thyroid tests can help us detect thyroid gland malfunctions and look for evidence of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
- Urinalysis – We recommend the urinalysis for all patients ages 6 and older. This test evaluates the health and function of the urinary system, aiding in the early detection of kidney disease and other issues in older pets.
