Poor gut health can have a major impact on your pet’s overall health and quality of life. Many dogs and cats can suffer from gastrointestinal problems, such as inflammatory bowel disease, leaky gut syndrome, intestinal worms, and gastritis. Leaky gut occurs when the balance of good bacteria in the GI tract is outweighed by bad bacteria, resulting in inflammation of the intestinal lining (mucosa). This inflammation allows bacteria and toxins to leak into the bloodstream, and be treated as foreign threats by the immune system. This, in turn, leads to chronic inflammation and other problems.

We can use fecal testing to evaluate your pet’s gut bacteria and check for imbalances. From there, we can determine what kind of changes your pet needs to improve their health—be it nutrition, exercise, supplements, or all of the above.

If your pet has a vitamin deficiency, they might be lethargic, drooling, excessively thirsty, and potentially losing weight. An underlying health condition in your pet might be the result of poor nutrient absorption in the body, or due to an unbalanced diet. Our team can provide nutritional consultations, among other treatments, to correct your pet’s vitamin deficiency.

Some important facts about vitamin deficiencies in pets:

• 70-80% of pets are vitamin D deficient, because they eat processed foods
• A vitamin D deficiency can increase your pet’s risk for cancer, allergies, cardiovascular events, kidney disease, and more
• If your pet is lacking vitamin B12, they may be at risk for IBD and pancreatitis
• Pets with low magnesium are twice as likely to have diabetes

Heavy metal toxins are unhealthy for humans and pets alike, and heavy metal poisoning is becoming more common in our four-legged friends. Sadly, this poisoning can lead to several health issues, some of which are fatal. Heavy metal toxins attack three main systems:

Quicksilver Scientific’s Blood Metals Panel screens for a broad range of potentially toxic and nutrient metals to show elevated exposure to toxic metals or imbalances of nutrient metals in whole blood. Results from this test can be used as a standalone screening, or to enhance information obtained from the Mercury Tri-Test.

Because different protocols or support may be indicated to balance the other potentially toxic and nutrient elements in the blood, the most effective detoxification protocol can then be selected by your vet. This whole-blood elemental metals analysis uses state-of-the-art inductively coupled plasma/mass spectroscopy. The test measures levels for 16 metals, including beneficial nutrient metals and potentially toxic metals.
